fall semester final essay prompt

They use ethos, pathos, and logos in their each creative way that catches the readers attention. They use ethos for the credibility for trust so the readers can trust the author and what they have to say. Then pathos for emotions of the readers to get them attach to feel what the author wants them to feel and imagine to use their imagination. Lastly logos to use logic to back up their work and give them reasons to trust them consistency. These things come to my mind when reading something, like how could I apply them and use them.

The students have intrinsic to do good in school and to help them self in life to make people help like their parents or extrinsic to prove other people wrong who doubt them. The poets show extrinsic motivation, because they are motivate by the world to shape it and point out fraud and name the unnameable are needed by the world. I'm intrinsic about sports to be the best to strive but for school I'm extrinsic for my parents to make them happy and that I'm doing good in school. Students also  want to be the best in their class so they are self motivated to make their teachers and parents happy. Or they are motivated by something out of school that they need to do good in school to be able to do what they like.

That was me being a poet and saying what I learn and know. Showing what I have learn and connecting it to my life in some little way. Also how my mind thinks when reading a book or a quoteT from an author there are all these little things to look for because they have meaning and the author chose to write that way. That is how I could put it what I have learn.

something interesting

I found out that Jimmy Santiago Baca wrote the screen play for Blood In Blood Out. It about 3 young men who are from East Los Angeles which are part of a Mexican gang and face the hardship of the life and having very little and also the death of friends and family from drugs and gang violence. Also the struggles when they went to prison and had to survive by any means. That something interesting that I found.

Like An Animal Poem by Jimmy Santiago Baca

This poem talks about how he might turn into someone the "real" him and that he scared that it a animal blood thirsty that prison has made the "real" person come out. The outside looks good compare to the inside who knows what it might be maybe a killer because he has blood on his fingernails. That prison made him think like that, because in prison there mostly killers and he is group in with them to maybe survive. So now he has become one them so he is scared now of what he might become the animal that is lock behind the bars.

Poetry Analysis: Immigrants In Our Own Land by Jimmy Santiago Baca

During class our journal topic was what if all these things happen to us like we couldn't read or write and we had poison rattlesnake blood and we went to jail for drug possession. That sounds crazy already, however that did actually happen and that was Jimmy Santiago Baca who went through all that. He learn how to read and write and ended up writing poems and his poem Immigrants In Our Land which never made it seem like he never knew how to read or write. The poem was serious talking about the immigrants struggle coming to a country and how they had to go through all these things which was changing them into the "new world" custom the country they are going to and leaving their "old world" behind so their country leaving behind their customs. Also talking about the hardships that they all have to go through and them being categorize already into what they are and I like the poem because it didn't really say nice things like it said all the real things that actually happen that sound and are bad. I like the poem, because some people could relate to him and the things that he wrote about may have happen to them. He had similes and metaphors in his poems that were use really well and the imagery to was good that we could actually picture what he is talking about.

MY MAD DREAM OF AN ESSAY

Remember that time you ate that spicy [Jalapeno] just before you went to bed on the night before the big [Wrestling tournament]?  Oh, that weird dream you had about the 2016 presidential election.  When you woke up you couldn't quite remember the [absurd] details, but after reading "On Self-Reliance" and "A Sound of Thunder" it's all coming back to you now.

The dream started badly.  You were in line with your family at a [rally] waiting to be sent to [prison].  Everywhere you looked there were posters of president-elect [Jolly Geter], looking like a crazy [monkey] who could eat a whole [earthworm].

Suddenly, there was Ralph Waldo Emerson telling you, "[Their mind being whole, their eye is as yet unconquered, and when we look in their faces, we are disconcerted]."  You realized that you have something to contribute to the world so you decided to [be hear].  But it wasn't easy.  First you had to put on a fancy [suit] and [fireworks] and then you had make a [portable time machine] to go back in time to the [rally] so you could convince people to learn about the candidates and the [racism that never seems to stop or end].

But right there in the [rally] there was a giant [crowd] and it started [shouting] at everyone.  People started to [shout].  You grabbed a [bomb] from a nearby [7-11] and yelled [Order in the world].  Everyone stopped and listened, so you kept going.

Listen everybody the choices that you make will impact the future so think about what you say and do, so you don't mess up the future for me and others future generations there will be a point where I would be in your shoes and others too will be face with the same thing handling it different though. However it will still have an impact on the future, so we shouldn't use violence and why fight fire with fire it won't get you anywhere just be in the same stop and not make any progress. Show the youth the good things and not the bad things that the world has to offer. The youth learns at a young age by watching us and seeing how we act and  the choices we make so make good decision. Kids don't grow up to be a certain way they grow up with what they have learn over the years so let think what would be good for us and future generations let make the right choices.

EMERSON'S CHILD

The election was getting pretty heat from both sides to winning votes. Both candidates weren't liked that much or the best fit for the president seat. Emerson would see that Trump was himself and that he actually was being himself through out the whole thing even though what he said wasn't that all good. He was staying true to himself and showed everyone who he was as a person even though many people do not like him. However this cause him to win the election now he will be the new president.

Yes Trump has won it happening it really is it the end of the world that what most people have been saying also R.I.P. America why do people say this because they know what kind of a person Trump is and all his comments that he has said. He plans to run America the way he wants to he is following what Emerson said about being yourself. If Emerson saw this he would been good job trump being yourself and to us he would say bad job. He would say this because all what we have been doing is complaining and nothing about it following the crowd. Starting violence that is unnecessary but shows that we really are afraid of who is running the USA.

We should move as a community together to help out each other with the problem going on and being hear to what we have to say. Letting our voice being hear on what we have been holding onto for so long and now being relieve by saying what we have to. Use what Emerson has said that we should follow so the community can find peace and not use violence. Actions speak louder than words so the violence would be worst and the consequence would be worst so we should use our words there more meaning in them. There are communities that have come together cause of Trump elect for president to protest because they have a voice that may change things they are believe on what they say.

As a country other countries may not take us serious anymore meaning it bad for us, because we have a "powerful" army that will be taken lightly. However we can make it so that we are taken serious. Like show that having Trump as president won't affect us, because he doesn't represent us we are own person who stand for different things. To making this country seem good again the youth are the ones who can change it learn from them. They made not seem like they do, but they do, because they have there own voice and are allow to think what they want and not really care if it follows the crowd or not, because it to benefit them not other to make themselves happy not to do it for others.

We should handle the situation differently from what we have been doing and not follow the crowd but do something that will have the same outcome. Apply what Emerson has said to be our self and not follow the crowd, because there would be consequences to following the crowd. Don't be afraid to be yourself and don't stop you weren't afraid as a kid. Look at the youth they aren't afraid to be them self they are happy because they don't have to worry about fitting in the crowd. It okay to be yourself don't be afraid it a great accomplish to stay true to yourself in a world that is constantly trying to change you so be proud to be yourself it a good thing not a bad thing. Emerson view on the 2016 presidential election would be somethings have change and somethings haven't change from his time and now.

vignette

It was second period and I came into class with my breakfast and listen to music and sat down just listen to my music so I could block out all the noise and also thinking about what was going on that day and what to worry about. Then class start and Dr. Preston was talking that we could come up with the ideas or he could. Then we had a physics lesson and talking about atoms and how we picture them is different from what we have been believing and then class ended it was shock that we could learn something from a different subject and how they are connect in a way.

Literature Analysis #3

The book I chose to read is Lord of the Flies by William Golding
It takes place in a Island during a war there is a plane full of kids and it crushes and landed on the island which they survive the crash and a kid name Ralph picks up a conch and blows on it to call all the kids together and chose him as the leader. However Jack isn't happy with that choice but still follows. There main focus is to find a way to sign for help, but Jack thinks something else and separates with the group and forms his own group and they do there own things and accidents happen that end up getting kids kill, because of a so call "beast" that they imagine and so more kids end up dying also Jack has some involvements with that. Ralph focus on a fire but it goes out because of Jacks boys and they lose there chance for help. Jack is now trying to kill Ralph but a man from a naval ship arrivals because of the signal fire and prevents Ralph from dying and are taken onto the ship but Ralph is scared now because he has seen what the boys are capable.
The theme of this story is the conflict between the human impulse towards savagery showed between Ralph and Jack, who respectively represent civilization and savagery.
I saw the cover of the book and read the title and summary and it interested me into reading the book
I hope or except from reading this was the battle between the boys for the strive to survive and how would they plan and see there different point of view.
What keep me reading was how the boys were on a plane and crash and them being confused on what to do, because they didn't have an adult to tell them what to do, so I want to see what they would do.
My reading habit is that if I don't like the book I get bored and my eyes close but if i still have to read it I end up reading it fast and don't really catch everything. However if I like the boy I keep in reading and read slow or reread something so I can fully understand what is going on.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING FART

The story is pretty crazy of what going on and the outcome of the story and how one small little thing can change the future hugely. Also how the author use his description to describe how the character feel and not really tell us the exact mood the character is feeling. The theme is be care how you try the small things cause they can lead to a huge outcome. Also the story was intersecting and caught my attention.

EMERSON FOR THE YOUNG BUCK

BE YOURSELF be strong in the world don't change for anyone, because why would they want you to change just for them where you won't be true to yourself or something that your not. You will just make the other person happy, but yourself not. The essay is called self reliance where you focus on yourself to not be scared to be yourself, because your scared of the other kids making fun of you. However staying true to yourself is more of a challenge in this world where people constantly try changing you. Instead where you try to fit in and losing yourself and maybe not being able to find yourself. So being true to yourself is something to be glad about it, it's a good thing not a bad thing. There will be people thinking bad about you, but also people thinking good things about you.

EMERSON SAID IT

1.) Do not think the youth has no force, I think that people assume babies can't really do anything, people assume that they can't anything that of a regular person, however they are the only free ones who aren't afraid to be themselves

2.)Their mind being whole, there eye is a yet unconquered. Babies when they are born are pure and innocent, because society hasn't change them yet. They think and say whatever they want, they wouldn't care if they says something wrong as compare to us who are too afraid to speak up. Babies are true to  themselves yet to experience to cruel world that awaits them.

3.)Ne te quaesiveris extra, that we should not go out of our way looking for things that aren't us or don't represent us staying true to our self and not letting anyone change us from being our self and not go looking for things outside to change us into something that we aren't not to change for society.

4.) Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles, so nothing can bring you happiness but yourself yeah other people can help you but you yourself can make it happen like some people see the outside of you and see you laugh and smile and think they brought happiness to you but in the deep inside you hide the suffering and the hiding that you kept from others. However the ideas that you can do things changes the mid set that you have changes something inside you which makes you feel like you have accomplish an amazing thing.

5.) Trust thyself : every heart vibrates to that iron string, for me this tells me that trust yourself because you know yourself better than anyone and know what the best thing for yourself and that when you do that you would become strong and that it vibrates with an iron string which mean that it doesn't break or bend and that a strong bond that wouldn't break.

Author In PROGRESS

Writing today about Emerson's short paragraph I think I did kinda good, because I just like ramble on and on and didn't really get to really answer it I somewhat answer them, I could get straight to the point and spend less time that I did today, because they took me for a while, because I just ramble on. I need to answer the question right away and not get off topic

MY AMERICAN VOICE

It is important to speak up, because then people won't know what is going on. Ideas, thoughts , and suggestions that were never said. Staying silent won't help all it does is cause damage, no voice to be heard, no ideas heard. A world where people have great ideas, but never heard many lost thoughts and ideas, being held inside don't know when it going to last it so nerve wrecking want to let it out but got use to the silent that it became a part of you. Now it so hard for the person to express their voice since they got use to the silent.

Team Vocabulary

This presidential election has transformed into a battle, with venomous attacks from both aggravating parties. Hillary has remained stolid, and I personally wanna punch Trump in the proboscis. His supporters have slowly dissolved and the ones who have remained are hypnotized into believing America will be great again. This is a melancholy moment in American history because soon one of these candidates will be president. I earnestly believe that neither candidate should be eligible for office.

So thank you for taking your time and discussing with me.

essay 1 revised

After reading my colleague's work and sharing ideas, I realized I could improve my first essay by rereading my essay and finding grammar and punctuation mistakes and fix them all. I'm proud of the result. Hope you enjoy reading it!!!

There are many things that makes up happy, but what are the little things in life that always makes us happy a hug, food, or our friends and family? Or is it our pride for our country ? The feeling of getting a hug from the person that makes you happy feels great. I would choose personal relations over patriotism because it is  more important for humans to bond together as human beings. Personal relations is more important than patriotism in my opinion.

What is patriotism? Well when people hear patriotism they think it is about having pride in their country where they were born and raised. Also they need to be a big fan and know everything about what going on in their country. However not many people know the history of the United State or can even name all the previous president. For example  like me I can't even name them even though I'm in school and taking history. They just know what mostly everybody knows. For example they all know about the holidays like Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, and other holidays, but most people don't know why we celebrate them and how we have or got those holidays. If we went up to random person and ask them several questions about American history they wouldn't really know the answers to them.

The things that they have in common are they both have to do with love. Love for something that makes you happy and love for your country. Love can't be different but you can love differently however love will always be the same affection towards something. Yet though one is to get form as one with bonds and the other is to form everybody as a whole for the pride of the country. Both similar for bonding, but for different purpose.

In conclusion I agree with E.M. Forster's view that personal relations is more important than patriotism. There is more personal relations involve in our lives and not a lot of patriotism only once in awhile when something big happens.Your family and friends will always be there for you no matter what in good and bad times, however Patriotism is only there for you when you are good, but leave you in the bad times, because they don’t want to ruin their reputation. However patriotism is good to show the love for our country, but we can't always really grow it. Personal relations is more meaningful that we want to grow and bloom.

A Hug is Nearly a Gun Spelled Backwards

There are many things that makes up happy, but what are the little things in life that always makes us a hug, food, or our friends and family? Or is it our pride for our country ? When Logic Fails

1.) Slippery slope - Trump talks about Mexicans says some bad stuff about them, then goes on to saying they are all rapists and murderers.

2.) Straw man - Both Clinton and Trump put words in each other mouths and arguing making it sound like the other person say it.

3.)Tu quoque - Donald Trump accuses Clinton of support the Iran war, but so did Trump

4.)Post hoc ergo propter hoc - Trump was saying that why didn't Clinton stop isis when they were a 'baby' and now they are big and if she couldn't stop them before what makes her think she can now.

5.)Dicto simpliciter - Trump generalize many races for example Chinese and Mexicans.

6.)complex question - Both try to ask question that made the other admit to something.

7.)Circulus in demonstrando - Trump says we shouldn't vote for Clinton, because she can't control her temper .

8.)Argumentum ad verecundiam - Trump use this when Clinton said he also support the war, he said to ask this person and he will say that Trump was against the war.

9.) Argumentum ad hominem - When Clinton says that Trump is just a racist.

10.)Red herring - Donald Trump did this a lot during the debate not answering the questions and changing the topic to something else.

Mistakes for president

The logical fallacies that I notice during the debate was that both candidates try to put the blame on each other and the other person like hears a gossip about the other person and makes them sound bad. Like they brought up problems issues that need to be solve but didn't really give reliable solutions they just kept on rambling on or calling the other candidate out. They gave reasons and reasons not to vote for the other like talking smack. Trump saw it in a business way where we got money and were powerful and Clinton saw it in a way to help solve problems around the world.

Something Interesting

Well while I was on the internet I came across that Bard Pitt Angelina Jolie are split after 12 years of being together they finally split the reason is unknown but there are a lot of conclusions on we they split but everybody was shocked about the couple splitting. They are both very successful and have kids together and are both are amazing people who are super parents. For more information this just happen recently so there more information just check up

sometimes my mind

Sometimes in my mind I think about the world and how we mess up the world pretty fast. The world have been here longer than us and we humans have been here for a short time and already mess up the world, and I wonder can we recreate the world or at least slow down the process of messing up the world. Like it too late to make the world a better place like we can't restore it. We populate the air and are cutting rain forest and making animals go extinct. What if we humans never made a mess of the world how would it have turned out would we even have evolve into humans? That what sometimes comes in my mind.

Lit analysis #2

The book that I choice is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card and the the theme of this book is that we sometimes can't tell the difference between game and reality. That it is not very clear to us that they make us think that something is a game but reality it is real and just trick us or the other way around. once we play to many games we get use to it and we think it reality but we just can't separate fantasy from reality.

MY YODA

The idea mentor would be of course a real life alien itself or an ex FBI or area 51 worker who knows tops secrets information about aliens and other life forms out there. Maybe also had contact with aliens and talk with them about other galaxies and planets and other advance technology. Has to have a lot of knowledge on outer space and life forms and also some experience.
